MAY 18

DAY 11

York River Yacht Haven

It was raining in the early hours but
cleared up for the day
although the temperature was quite cooler.
It felt like a nice fall day.

Although we knew it was cart paths only,
Karen and Walt, Janet and Ken, Jim, Bernie, Joe and Glenn
played golf at Deer Run which was only a 20 minute drive from the marina.

Thanks to Bill and Judy for driving
the golfers to the course.

On the way back we were able to fit
all 8 of us + Bill in one van.
It was a 'friendly' ride back.

Congratulations to our Low Net winners... Janet and Ken

Others went shopping...   and here's the proof.

We usually have a shopping contest but
without Denise Schubert and Marge Drez
it just wouldn't be the same.

Joe ponders his choice of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream.
Many of us found our way to B&J at the Riverwalk Landing at Yorktown.

Trivia from Bernie -  Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington at Yorktown.    Glouchester Point, VA is the
birthplace of Dr. Walter Reed, who discovered the cause of yellow fever.   Glouchester Point is also place were first coin ever minted in America in 1714.

George was fascinated by the statue of himself.

Yorktown Victory Monument
authorized by Continental Congress
on October 29, 1781.  The top of
monument is figure of Liberty.

This is the top of the monument
from the backside.
Sure looks like Lady Liberty is
giving the British the finger.

Live Long and Prosper

One last splash of 11 boats  (22 people).

Annie Girl and Marlyn  (Freeman's and Kebel's)
will be heading home tomorrow.

Snowdrift took a test run out into the river
and all seems okay.    Here's hoping.
Janet threw 2 pennies into the fountain at the
Riverwalk wishing for good luck for both engines.
